Local Archaeological Societies:
Co-operating with the Greater Manchester Archaeological Unit Bury Archaeological Group carries out documentary research, geophysical survey and field walking. Since 2003 they have been carrying out small scale excavations at the site of Gristlehurst Hall.
Tameside Archaeological Society
Tameside Archaeological Society was established in 1997 to record and preserve the historical standing remains for the public interest in the borough of Tameside.
